Julio Narvaez
The physicians at Delta Eye are pleased to introduce to you their colleague, Dr. Julio Narváez.Dr. Narváez has been a full Professor of Ophthalmology at Loma Linda University School of Medicine where he has been a faculty member since 2003. Dr. Narváez graduated from Loma Linda University School of Medicine in 1992 receiving the Roger Barnes Humanitarian Award, and membership into the Alpha Omega Alpha honors society (top 10% of his class). He then stayed on to complete his residency training.
Dr. Narváez later pursued a fellowship in cornea, refractive, and anterior segment surgery at the noted Emory Eye Center, Atlanta in 2003. He is an accomplished and innovative surgeon in cataract, refractive, and corneal surgery. Ophthalmologists in Southern California, who by peer review selected him to the prestigious Best Doctors in America list, have endorsed the quality of his work. His previous patients continue to call our offices for appointments.
In addition to his superb clinical and surgical care, Dr. Narváez has done extensive publishing in peer reviewed ophthalmic journals. He is a reviewer for the Journal of Cataract and Refractive Surgery, the Journal of Refractive Surgery, the Journal of Cornea, and the journal Ophthalmology. His clinical and research interests are in cataract surgery, refractive surgery, and the treatment of corneal diseases. He has been a Principal Investigator in FDA clinical trials for LASIK and corneal transplantation surgery. He is currently an FDA investigator for collagen crosslinking for keratoconus and ectasia.
He is a regular presenter at the major national and international ophthalmic meetings, and has taught many medical students, residents, and international ophthalmologists.
He is involved in medical mission work having traveled overseas nearly every year of his career to provide free cataract and other surgeries to the blind.
Dr. Narváez is not new to the area. After his residency training, he served three years as an active duty ophthalmologist at Travis Air Force Base. After that he followed his wife Dylia to Stockton for three years during her residency training in Family Practice at the San Joaquin General Hospital. During that time he worked as an ophthalmologist in Turlock before obtaining fellowship training. He has now been with Delta Eye for two years.
Dr. Narváez speaks Spanish fluently. He practices general ophthalmology and receives medical and surgical consults for cataract, refractive, cornea, and anterior segment patients. He sees patients in all our three office locations, and is available to speak to groups.
When Dr. Narváez is not in the office, he and his wife Dylia enjoy an active family life with their three young children, including a toddler. All enjoy the great outdoor opportunities available in our community.
